From 29 August to 2 September 2026, as part of the fieldwork plan of the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (Dushanbe) of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, field studies on the investigation and monitoring of high-mountain lakes of the Pamirs were conducted by the scientists of the Center in the territory of Roshtqala district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. During the fieldwork, aerial photography and aerial video recording were carried out using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the areas of Durumkul and Maysara lakes.

A group of scientists and researchers from the Research Center for Ecology and Environmental Protection of Central Asia (Dushanbe) conducted fieldwork on the surging glaciers in the upper reaches of the Vanjob River Basin from 24 to 28 August 2026. The main objectives of the fieldwork were to investigate the current state and dynamics of the Meghdor and Khirson glaciers, collect field data, conduct aerial surveys using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and carry out hydrological observations in the Vanjob River Basin.

On June 6, 2026, the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (Dushanbe) conducted demonstration and test flights of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at the Fakhrobod airfield of the Public Organization for Assistance to the Civil Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan. The event was attended by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Academician Khushvakhtzoda Qobiljon Khushvakht, the Vice President of the Academy, Professor Amonzoda Ilhom Temur, directors of the institutes under the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Chemistry, Geology and Engineering of the Academy, as well as other officials.

A scientific article by PhD researcher Mekhrovar Okhonniyozov of the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (Dushanbe), National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, in collaboration with researchers from Tajikistan and China, has been published in the international journal “Journal of Arid Land”. The journal is indexed in major international scientific databases and is recognized as a leading publication in the fields of dryland ecology, environmental sciences, and sustainable land management.
