The current year has become an important event for paleontological research. An international team of scientists - geologists and paleontologists - went on a seven-day field expedition to northern Tajikistan from 25 June to 1 July 2024. This was the first paleontological expedition in the region, which has not been conducted since 1991. It aimed to discover fossilized vertebrate remains from the Late Cretaceous deposits of the Western Fergana in the territory Republic of Tajikistan.

  The upper part of the Varzob River basin can be considered as the precipitation pole in the Republic of Tajikistan, where the precipitation norm is more than 1600 mm per year and the snow cover height in years of heavy snowfalls in winter reaches 4.0-5.0 meters. Due to the large amount of precipitation, especially snowfalls, the Maykhura River basin (right tributary of the Varzob River) is considered one of the avalanche-prone areas of the Republic. In recent years, avalanches have often occurred in this area, causing damage and sometimes human casualties.

  The Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (Dushanbe) announces the holding of the International Scientific Conference “Preservation of Glaciers and Efficient Use of Water Resources in Central Asia”, dedicated to “2025 - the International Year of Glacier Conservation”.

  On December 13, 2023, in the city of Dushanbe the Founder of national peace and unity -  Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon and the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, dear Rustami Emomali opened the buildings of the National Crisis Management Center of the Committee for Emergency situations and civil defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
