From April 23 to 28, 2026, an international scientific field expedition was conducted in Tajikistan to study the biodiversity and ecological condition of meadow ecosystems in different natural and climatic zones of the country. The research was carried out with the participation of scientists from the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Northeast Normal University, and the Institute of Botany, Plant Physiology and Genetics, with coordination and support from the Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia.
The scientific team included Dr. Mekhrovar Okhonniyozov, Dr. Ma Xuexi, Ph.D. Sharifjon Habibulloev, and Ph.D. Ying Zhang. Field studies were conducted in Danghara District, Bokhtar, and the Luchob area near Dushanbe.

During the expedition, researchers carried out geobotanical surveys of meadow vegetation, assessed key ecosystem indicators such as plant height, canopy cover, aboveground biomass, and species composition, and collected soil, rhizosphere, and plant root samples for laboratory analysis. The team also recorded signs of meadow ecosystem degradation associated with intensive grazing and increasing aridization.

Collected soil and plant samples were processed, systematized, and prepared for detailed laboratory analyses at the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography in Urumqi.
