On June 4, 2021, the Center with the participation of representatives of research institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the National University of Tajikistan, the Central Asian Institute for Applied Geosciences (CAIAG, Bishkek) and the German Scientific Center for Geosciences (GFZ, Potsdam) held International online symposium on the topic “Water resources of Central Asia: formation, geoecology, sustainability in the face of climate change”.
More than 20 scientists and specialists participated in the work of the symposium, 13 scientific reports - presentations were heard and discussed. The reports were devoted to the formation of water resources in Tajikistan - the main territory for the formation of water flow in the Amudarya River basin, the impact of climate change on the state of glaciers, the impact of climate change and anthropogenic activities on the ecological situation of river basins, monitoring and analysis of hydrological processes using remote sensing methods, including including the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), rational use of water resources for drinking water supply, assessment of the consequences of natural disasters associated with hydrological processes, etc.
